Registration Form – Single Family Home Lottery


There is a random-number drawing (lottery) for for the following Single Family Homes:
1635 California Avenue, Lot 18
1655 Amherst Way, Lot 37
1615 Amherst Way, Lot 41
1605 Amherst Way, Lot 42
2500 Bowdoin Street, Lot 46
2540 Bowdoin Street, Lot 47
1630 Amherst Way, Lot 50
In order to participate in the lottery, all faculty eligible to purchase a University Terrace home must complete and submit a registration form (interest list application) and participate in an Open House. Faculty couples with dual eligibility may apply individually. Lottery participants who have reserved a single-family home are not eligible to participate in the lottery. Lottery participants who have reserved a condominium home are eligible to participate in the lottery if they are interested in a larger home. All participants will be notified after the interest list application has been submitted and will receive a unique identifier. Interest List submissions are neither a guarantee of eligibility nor qualification to purchase. No priority will be given based on the timing of the submission. All entries will be verified by FSH and eligible participants will be notified when their application has been accepted. Applicants may withdraw from consideration prior to the lottery.

Purchase Program Eligibility

Who is eligible for University Terrace ?


Faculty who are eligible:

are Members of the Academic Council;

have 100% academic council appointment and are working 100% FTE;

have term appointments of 3 years or more with the possibility of reappointment, or have received tenure, or have an appointment with a continuing term(1);

are First-time homebuyers(2);

have attended an Open House if looking to purchase in the Single Family Home lottery; and

do not have a reservation or a contract on a single family home in another Faculty Staff Housing Lottery (This rule does not apply to participants who have a reservation or a contract on a condominium home in another Faculty Staff Housing Lottery)


(1)Appointment must be approved by the President by the time the lottery closes. Additionally, the start date must be not more than sixty (60) days after the date the purchase transaction closes (close of escrow or COE).

(2)First-time homebuyers is someone, including spouses and registered domestic partners, who has never had an ownership interest in a single family home located in the Qualifying Area in the past three (3) years prior to receipt of a written offer of employment from Stanford.

(3)An Eligible Person may use the University's housing purchase programs for only one property at a time.

(4)As an accommodation to condominium owners who are interested in participating in the University Terrace lottery, the following will apply:

  1. The condominium must be listed for sale within ninety (90) days of the projected closing date of the new home;
  2. The condominium must be under contract/escrow within sixty (60) days of the projected closing date of the new home; and
  3. The condominium must close escrow before or concurrently with the new home purchase.
